Boost this, please!!! I don’t know Shayla but she was in my homeroom- I saw her almost every day. I just found out about her missing status and I’m shocked. Spread the word in any way you can, especially people in Queens and within Delaware County in Pennsylvania!

After threats against her life, Anita Sarkeesian canceled an upcoming talk at Utah State University. Gamergate trolls are celebrating on Twitter while simultaneously dismissing the threats as nothing. Does this read like nothing to you?

“I will write my manifesto in her spilled blood, and you will all bear witness to what feminist lies and poison have done to the men of America.”

The email’s author threatened to murder feminist women indiscriminately in a mass shooting. And because carrying guns on campus outweigh the right of students and guests to be safe, Anita Sarkeesian canceled her talk.

BUT WE SHOULDN’T FEEL THREATENED, RIGHT?

BECAUSE IT’S JUST THE INTERNET, RIGHT?

The bullies won this time. And if you think this shit isn’t dangerous, I’m fresh out of fucks to give and I’m not restocking any time soon. It’s goddamn wrong to to dismiss this by claiming the author isn’t serious. Elliot Rodger’s rantings were dismissed until it was too late.

This. Is. Not. OK.

How do you feel about the photos circulating lately of the United States flag being burned after the shooting in St. Louis? Being raised in an Air Force family all my life, I am trying so hard to ignore the knee jerk reaction that I was taught about that kind of symbol and focus on the actual, real issue that sparked an action like that in the first place. What do you think?

chescaleigh:

I think the unjust loss of human life is more important and upsetting than the burning of an inanimate object. I’ve never been very patriotic, but these days I don’t exactly feel safe or proud of this country. I doubt Mike Brown or Vonderrick Myers family shed any tears over a burning flag. Maybe the American Flag will feel more like a symbol of peace, freedom and justice when it stops being open season on black people. Black lives matter. But for some, not more than a flag. That’s the problem.

Michonne Cosplay test by a friend of mine! I think it’s already pretty awesome. Go visit her Facebook page ♥: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Purple-Candy-Cosplay/294657134029793?fref=ts

Oh, dear.  Someone needs to tell this girl that blackface is never okay.

narulein nope. your test is pretty racist. Blackface not acceptable under any circumstances

Ugh, STOP DOING BLACKFACE.

There’s a link to this woman’s facebook, everyone go tell her how fucked up this is.

Can somebody explain, and I mean this in the most genuine curiosity and because I actually don’t understand. If the cosplay is not racist in any way and a pretty close depiction of the character without exaggerating features done with no malicious intent why it’s not okay and still deemed racist?

Because being black gets people killed in real life and we cannot just wipe it off to save ourselves
because blackface is steeped in minstrelsy
Please just google blackface and you’ll quickly find articles as to why
why can’t you accept if a black person is saying something is racist, that it just is?

will white people ever learn though? is it ALWAYS the duty of POC to sit them down like little children and explain to them? Like they’re so fucking privileged to point where nothing even phases them, they can’t even be bothered to use their brains to surmise whether something is incredibly offensive. I don’t give a shit if you’re “genuinely curious” you’re just ignorant as fuck. I’m so tired of this ugh  USE YOUR BRAINS

Since her posts are bilingual, I am thinking that she isn’t American. Sometimes people forget that the views of black people are not universal. She is really just thinking of the character as another person and doesn’t see any issue with it. The color of the skin is just a color and the only meaning it has is  the same as hair color and style. In a weird way, this is where equality will take us. We just aren’t there yet in America.

She’s speaking German and is being called out  out by other people speaking German that recognize that she is being racist by putting it on.
Ignorance doesn’t make one innocent. She was told it was racist. Instead of apologizing for her ignorance she went on passive aggressive tirade where she basically said she doesn’t care and hate me anyway.
Black people world wide are are not shielded for the ramification of being black in a racist world. She will not be coddled because she put black face on.

Black face is racist in Germany too. Despite the myth that minstrel shows only happened in the US the reality is that they were a global phenomenon. And the history of Black face in Europe is well documented. Folks, Google exists. I promise you that unless the OP has been living under a rock they already have the cultural & social context that Black face is racist. Ask any Afro German (of which there are lots!) about German plays, TV shows, movies, etc involving Black face and the protests that they’ve held over the decades. Not to mention the FIFA investigation that has been going on this year.

gender roles men could try to crush

  • talking over women
  • not being concerned about women receiving street harassment
  • centralizing women’s thoughts and opinions on how they feel
  • accepting ideas that promote rape culture

the only gender role men seem to care about crushing

  • watching shows primarily geared towards little girls
  • liking glittery things
  • literally anything that doesn’t involve altering their behavior towards women
